Our love of gerbils started with Romulus and Remus – two male gerbils in Mrs. White’s 3rd grade classroom. We had the opportunity to “babysit” them and our family had such fun watching their antics while enjoying the amazing ease of caring for them.
When gerbils were requested as a birthday present we made the trek up to the Denver area to purchase wonderful, hand-tamed gerbils from a reputable breeder.
Breeding gerbils was the desire of our children as soon as we purchased them. After waiting a year, we saw their love and interest in gerbils had not waned, but rather had grown. So, to fulfill their desire to become gerbil breeders, to teach them the life skill of business-ownership, and to make it possible for gerbil lovers in Colorado Springs to be able to buy locally, we started Springs Gerbils.
Now our kids’ bedrooms are full of gerbil tanks😊 Their daily routine includes holding and playing with their “gerbs,” making sure they have plenty of food and water and discovering new things for their gerbils to play with😊
